Danielle Lewis, Relindis Moffor and Jan Hanson

This past week my new friend Danielle Lewis invited 200 Orphanages and Angel of Mercy USA to speak at her school, the College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe Az. Danielle and the other students are hoping to bring holistic medical care to the orphans with HIV/AIDS.

Danielle and I met a few weeks ago through Monique Aiken, Houston who has organized a group of friends and family to adopt Angel of Mercy as their project.  Danielle brings her medical expertise, Christina will help design the plans for the orphange  and Monique hopes to work one on one with the children. We all plan to help build a well onsite while there.

The Pinnacle Peak Rotary Club and Sartell Rotary are excited to help with fund raisers and assist with obtaining a matching grant for the well on the site.  Our group is traveling to Cameroon in September. Our trip will be short, but while we will build a well on the site of the orphanage, finalize architectural drawings, provide support to the staff and medical assistance to the children. We will have opportunities to work with children in a local school and meet with community leaders.

The orphanage will house about 40 children and one day be self sustaining. There will be crops, livestock and a small store from which income will be earned. the children need ongoing medical attention as many are HIV/AIDS positive. There will be a clinic on site, trained staff and eventually a school. Thank you for taking on this project as your own! Each traveler is raising funds for their trip, but also to build the project.

Danielle created a cause page: http://www.causes.com/causes/604168?m=1229a535, and is hosting a fund raiser through her school. Our Golf 4 Orphans Event June 27 will raise funds for the building project. And Relindis and I will be traveling to Houston in July where Monique is planning a fund raiser. We’re working toward $40,000, not including the well. Monique and crew have raised $8,000 so far with their early efforts. Amazing!

If you can’t travel with  us, but still want to help build the orphange, you can donate online. Select Angel of Mercy in the drop down box.

For the Children,
